Here’s How It All Began

I remember when I felt like my parenting skills were inadequate.

I was confused and overwhelmed with the challenges my kids were facing. They were highly intelligent but could be socially anxious, get stressed easily, and at times be rigid and inflexible. Changes in plans that seemed insignificant to me would cause them to have outbursts, start a fight, or just shut down. I could not understand their reactions. Watching them suffer and not being able to help made me feel like I must be doing something wrong.

So I poured myself into researching, consulting, and worrying full-time about how to help.

I did not feel qualified to find the right therapists, educational supports, academic accommodations, and other resources along the way. I often wondered why there couldn’t be one specialist who could lead me through this complex and often frustrating process. I read all the parenting books I could find and consulted with a variety of professionals to stockpile coping strategies. I had to synthesize all the information and create some kind of treatment plan on my own that worked for my family.

I was stressed, worried, and needed someone to guide me. I was learning some hard truths:

I knew there had to be a better way to treat kids and work with families. I decided to create it myself.

I developed my signature family programs to help other families navigate the process of identifying the right kinds of support, help teens improve emotion regulation, and find more happiness and connection within the family.

Why? Because I’ve been there.

I’ve been on every side of the couch imaginable, and had experiences that were unhelpful, with therapists or doctors who blamed the parents or offered ineffective strategies, and I’ve had experiences that were transformative.

I have synthesized my personal and professional experiences to ensure that I can offer the most comprehensive support available anywhere. I’d love to help you and your family calm the chaos and rediscover the joy in being a family.
